Just A Plane Ride Away - 10

It was Thursday. We were leaving on Saturday. I can't believe how quick it's gone.

Mum decided to have a little 'party' to say goodbye to the people she's met here. There were no kid's invited – Which I'm quite glad, it's very awkward when you hardly know a kid and forced to 'play with them'.

Mum was gonna invite Michael, but we thought it would be better if we don't because there would be a massive riot when people know who he is. So, instead, we invited him to our house tomorrow, for dinner.

The party thing started at 6, and it was already 5:30.

'Shan, go throw something on, you look a mess. Oh and do something with your hair, it's a bit...' She did this weird thing with her hand. 'WAFT.'

'Awww, thanks, you look nice too.' I said sarcastically.

She gave me a weird face, and carried on preparing snacks.

I went into my room and opened the wardrobe. I couldn't find anything decent to wear. So I just threw on some jeans and a New York top Mum got me. I looked in the mirror, and thought that would do and quickly brushed my hair again.

I walked out my room, to Mum's view; she looked at me, sighed and said,

'..That'll do.'

About 10 minutes later, guests started to arrive, it was so boring, I just ended up in my room, listening to MJ!

I fell asleep, and when I woke up, I looked at my iPod, and it was halfway playing through 'Wanna Be Starting Something' which means I've been asleep for about 25 songs! I turned it off, and walked into the living room.

'People gone then?' I asked Mum.

'No. Were playing hide and seek.' Mum said, trying to be funny.

'Ok...Anyway, have you got any food? I'm starving?' I mumbled.

'Umm, check the fridge.'

I scanned the fridge, and there was nothing I fancied in there.

'Nope.' I mumbled. 'Can I go to the sweet shop down in the lobby?'

'Yeah, you got some money?'

'...Yeah, I'm gonna need some of that.' I said as I reached into my pocket and failed to pull out anything.

Mum pulled out a 5 dollar bill and handed it to me. 'Spend it wisely.'

'Thank you.' I smiled at her and left.


A few moments later, I was in the lobby walking to the huge sweet stand in the corner. It was amazing; I couldn't count all the sweets that I could see. There was gobstoppers, jawbreakers, lollipops, toffee, chocolate and much more! It was heaven! I started walking towards the sweets, not taking my eyes of the candy. I didn't know what to buy, I had a five dollar bill to spend, and I wanted about $50 to spend! I decided(finally) that I was gonna get some chocolate, and a few strawberry laces, it was about $3, so I paid up and go my 2 dollars change.

I was walking towards the lift, chewing on a strawberry lace, when I looked at the $2 dollars in my hand. That was enough to play a quick game in the arcade! Without realising, I was outside the arcade with the 2 dollars still in my hand and the strawberry lace eaten. I walked inside, changed my money, and was playing on the slidey coin game! Within 10 minutes, my money was all gone, and I was making my way back to my suite.

Things were a bit strange, I hadn't seen Michael in a while, he was meant to come round tomorrow, for a private party, we haven't heard in him in a while though, maybe he wanted to keep a low profile or something.

I arrived back, and put the sweets on the table.

'Hey Shan.'

'Hey, you alright?'

'Yeah, change of plan, Michael just called, were going to his the evening, so you better get ready.'
Mum explained.

'Seriously?'

'Yes, seriously, now go pick out what your gonna wear before I'll pick for you.'

'Okay.' I replied and headed off to my room.

I was happy that Michael was alright, and that we get to see him tonight. I smiled to myself, and pulled up my sleeves, my charm bracelet dangled down and looked more beautiful than ever.
